The summer season is from mid-May to mid-October with high temperatures and cloudless skies. Sea breezes help keep coastal temperatures down to 32C (90F) but it is far warmer inland, except in the fresher, cooler mountains. Seas are also warmer at the end of the season.
In October and November, nights gets longer and cooler and this is the best time of year to visit the inland hillside villages and vineyards.
December and January bring rain, but still five to six hours of daily sunshine. The cultural calender is very active over winter with many concerts and festivals. There can be winter snow on the Troodos mountains and skiing is popular.
In February, orchids and almonds flower at the first signs of spring and by March daytime temperatures can reach 19C (65F) and flowers are out in profusion.
April and early May are popular with walkers and daytime temperatures are still pleasantly warm, though nights can be cool.
